Insider Grants Unauthorized Yard Access at Indianapolis Warehouse Facility

Last week, an employee at a major Indianapolis warehouse facility used their own legitimate employee badge to grant unauthorized individuals access to the secure yard area. What should have been a tightly controlled zone quickly became vulnerable when the insider bypassed standard access protocols.

This type of internal breach is especially dangerous because the person already has legitimate credentials. The unauthorized individuals were able to enter the yard without triggering alarms or raising immediate suspicion, giving them the opportunity to scout high-value loads, identify security camera blind spots, or stage thefts right under the noses of other staff.
Incidents like this demonstrate how quickly insider collusion can turn a routine workday into a significant cargo loss. When someone inside the facility decides to help outsiders, traditional perimeter security and cameras are no longer enough.
At TruckWarden, we know the best defense starts with your own team. Our Cargo Theft Prevention Training Certificate includes dedicated modules on strict access control procedures, recognizing signs of collusion, and the importance of “see something, say something” reporting. One trained employee following the right protocols can stop an insider-assisted breach before it ever reaches the yard.

Strong internal controls and well-trained staff remain the most effective way to protect your facility from threats that start inside the building.
Stay vigilant and keep your yards secure.
